My Applicant Is Telling Me That Their Credit Score Is Higher, Why Is This Score So Low?

The scoring model that is used with the credit decision report that we provide is the FICO 04 model. The FICO 04 model is one of the toughest scoring models. Other credit models weigh the data differently, which can result in variations in an individual’s credit score. In addition to this, credit scores between the three credit bureaus (TransUnion, Equifax, Experian) can cause differences in scores, as well, as one credit bureau could have more information on file than another and ultimately weigh this information differently to generate a score. If an applicant pulled their score on a third party site like credit karma or a similar site, the score would not be comparable to our report, since these types of credit score systems do not account for an individual’s entire credit file that major credit institutions would account for.
