Why Do I Have to Submit Documents to Order a Credit Decision Report?

In order to run our Credit Decision Reports through TransUnion, it is required that we collect documentation that meets the criteria to establish “Permissible Purpose.” An individual may be described as having permissible purpose when they have provided documentation that the individual whom the credit check is being run on has authorized this procedure to be completed, and the individual requesting this report has a legitimate reason for running the search. Verifying a landlord’s permissible purpose is called the “Credentialing” process, which is a one-time process, and it allows us to release credit information to the landlord without the applicant's direct involvement. Without this documentation, we are unable to provide any credit information due to regulations set by the credit bureaus.
