If I Run a Screening Report for a Tenant, Do I Have to Provide Them a Copy?

No, you do not have to personally provide them a copy. In fact, we advise against this, as the report landlord's receive does not contain the proper disclaimers that a consumer copy contains.

If a RentPrep Background Check was ordered for the tenant, you can have the tenant reach out to RentPrep to obtain their consumer copy of the report.

To obtain their copy from RentPrep, the tenant can go to the Renter's Relations section on RentPrep.com to download and fill out our dispute form. They can then send us the completed form along with a copy of their driver's license and we will send them a copy of their report.

If they believe there is an error on the report, they can also use that form to make a formal dispute. In some cases, we can reach out to the data providers and let them know if the information should be expunged from their records.

If a TransUnion Full Credit Report was ordered, the tenant can contact TransUnion at 833-458-6338 to obtain the consumer copy of their report.
