Common Terms

As an End User you will review completed reports to make decisions on applicants who qualify for the rental. On these reports you may come across terms that may be unfamiliar on a record, if you would like to find more information about the term you can contact us to get a better understanding. 

 

Misinterpreting the meaning of the term can impact your final decision, we want to help prevent this as much as we can. Here is some common terms and their meanings that we see:

 

Adjudicated Guilty - The case has been resolved either by a plea or finding of guilt by judge or jury.

 

Probation Revocation - An event in which the court, after finding that one or more probation violations have been proven, rescinds an individual’s probation sentence and executes a jail or prison sentence. 

 

Dismissed - The court or prosecutor has decided the charge against the person should not go forward, terminating the case.

 

Nolle Prosequi - A decision to no longer prosecute the charge(s) - similar to a dismissal - Lantine for “not prosecuted”, this means there is not enough evidence to convict the defendant.

 

Dropped/Abandoned - The case was dropped and not prosecuted.
